Lawrence Brickman, M.D., FACS, Visiting Associate Professor of Clinical Biomedical Science for the Charles E. Schmidt College of Biomedical Science at Florida Atlantic University, was recently honored by the Cascade Lakes Papanicolaou Corps Cancer Research Unit for his valuable contributions in the fight against cancer and his dedicated service to his patients.
The award, presented to Dr. Brickman at the organization's first "Golf Outing" event, comes as a result of his frequent lectures to the South Florida community about cancer and other topics, such as trauma.
A noted general, vascular, and trauma surgeon, Dr. Brickman has been a Clinical Associate Professor at the Medical Regional Campus at FAU since 2005. He currently also serves as an Affiliate Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Miami. In addition to his faculty positions, Dr. Brickman frequently travels to Fort Sam Houston in Texas to teach military personnel in the Combat Casualty Care Course.
Prior to this, Dr. Brickman was a surgeon in his own private practice for nearly 30 years, and has authored and co-authored numerous articles in national and international medical journals. He also was the chief of general surgery at Huntington Hospital in New York.
