The Charles E. Schmidt College of Biomedical Science is a leader in Medical Education and Innovative Research, providing training for physicians and scientific expertise for our graduate students that will support the medical, economic and environmental health of the region.

OUTRIGHT GIFTS

Gifts of cash are the simplest and most commonly received charitable contributions. Cash gifts may be used to honor or memorialize someone.

Gift of Appreciated Property, including securities and real estate, are popular with individuals seeking to manage capital gains taxes on appreciated assets with a market value well beyond the original purchase price.

Gifts-in-Kind of Tangible Personal Property such as library collections, works of art, historical items, computers, musical instruments, and other items can be of great educational value to the College.

CORPORATE MATCHING GIFTS

Matching Gifts are made by hundreds of corporations nationwide when their employees, retirees, board members and even these individuals' spouses contribute to charitable organizations. Contact the Human Resources office of your employer to see whether they have a matching gift program. In most cases, you complete a form that is mailed with your personal donation. We will follow-up with your company to secure the gift. Your giving record will reflect your companies' matching gift as well as your own contribution.

PLANNED GIFTS

When a contributor is interested in specific strategies for tax and estate planning, planned gifts to the Charles E. Schmidt College of Biomedical Science provide many opportunities to accomplish personal goals while assisting the College in a substantial way.

Bequests may be included in your will, ensuring that a specific amount or percentage of an individual's estate will come to the College after his/her death.

Life-Income Gifts provide a variety of ways in which you can make a contribution to the College while still providing income for yourself, your spouse, or another individual.

THE STATE OF FLORIDA MAJOR GIFT MATCHING PROGRAM

The State of Florida's Matching Gift Program is an important incentive to private giving and provides donors with the opportunity to increase their gifts substantially. Under this multi-level program, gifts of $100,000 or more used to establish faculty programs or scholarship endowments are augmented with state funding. Gifts are eligible for matched funds as follows:

Gifts of $100,000 to $599,999 receive matching state funds equal to 50% of the gift.
Gifts of $600,000 to $1,000,000 are matched at 70%.
Gifts of $1,000,001 to $1,500,000 are matched at 75%.
Gifts of $1,500,001 to $2,000,000 are matched at 80%.
Gifts in excess of $2,000,000 receive 100% in matching funds.
