Office of Student Affairs

ABOUT US

Welcome to the Office of Medical Student Affairs. This office is administered by Stuart L. Markowitz, M.D., a Professor at Florida Atlantic University, and Sharon Realini, Administrative Assistant to Dr. Markowitz. Our office is dedicated to medical student advocacy. Our basic philosophy revolves around creating a compassionate and caring atmosphere where our students feel most comfortable. We make an effort to get to know all of our medical students. While some of the services that are offered involve experts at the main campus of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (such as Financial Aid services), we pride ourselves on striving to provide the resources for your personal health and wellness, as well as academic achievement and excellence.

We are your point of contact for assistance in many areas, including academic and personal counseling, representing the institution and the medical profession to our medical students, and implementing institutional policies and procedures. We also are involved with medical student communications, special programs, letters of recommendation, residency and the match, and other important aspects of the medical student experience at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University.

Each year, we administer the orientation for new students, which will be on August 7-9, 2008 for the Class of 2012. In addition, we serve as a liaison to Student Government and numerous student interest groups.

You may schedule an appointment at any time by calling (561)297-1010 or stopping by the Administration Office and seeing Sharon Realini or emailing her at srealini@fau.edu. Please explore our Web site to find out more about us. We invite your suggestions and opinions by contacting Dr. Markowitz at stuartm@fau.edu.
