FAU High School MD Direct Program

The FAU High School MD Direct Program is a highly selective, collaborative program with the FAU Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine for students who have a strong desire to pursue a career in medicine. Admitted students earn a B.A. or B.S. degree from FAU , an approved 2-year M.S. degree from FAU, and the M.D. degree from FAU’s College of Medicine (FAUCOM) in Boca Raton in seven or eight years. The College of Science and the College of Engineering and Computer Science may provide teaching or research assistantships to FAUHS MD Direct students during enrollment in their master's programs, which includes a partial tuition waiver.

Admission is open to highly qualified FAU High School seniors, with preferential consideration given to National Merit Finalists and Scholars.

Program Expectations and Requirements

Minimum Eligibility Requirements to Apply (subject to change):

  • SAT score of 1490 or a minimum ACT composite of 33
  • Weighted high school GPA of at least 4.30
  • Experience with patient interaction – Highly recommended, but not required
  • Research experience – Highly recommended, but not required
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident status
  • Admitted to FAU before pipeline application deadline
  • Enroll as a full-time undergraduate student at FAU in Fall Term after high school graduation
  • Complete bachelor’s degree at FAU no earlier than Fall Term after high school graduation
  • If National Merit Scholarship Program Finalist, must report FAU as National Merit Scholarship Program Sponsor College First Choice
  • Letter of recommendation from a counselor or high school teacher uploaded to the following link by December 1, 2021. You must provide this link to your letter writer: https://fau.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_7WAQy8ricYLWbOd
  • Submit the online FAU High School MD Direct Program Application by December 1, 2021.
